Amendments to Treaty and NotesAustralia ratified the Convention subject to a reservation that states: " The Government of Australia advises that it does not accept the application of the Convention in so far as it would require alteration of Defence force policy which excludes women from combat and combat-related duties. The government of Australia is reviewing this policy so as to more closely define "combat" and "combat-related" duties. On 30 August 2000, wef same date, Australia amended its reservation to the exclusion of women from "combat" and "combat-related duties" with a new reservation advising that Australia does not accept the application of the Convention in so far as it would require alteration of Defence Force policy which excludes women from combat duties. See Amendments of 22 May 1995 and Optional Protocol of Oct 1999
